Richard Zimmerman, of Bynum, TX, passed into the arms of his Savior on December 30, 2019 at the age of 55. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, January 4, 2020 at Marshall and Marshall Funeral Directors Chapel in Whitney. Pastor Phil Hunt of Grace City Church will officiate. Burial will follow at Prairie Valley Cemetery near Whitney. A visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 PM on Friday, January 3, 2020 at the funeral home.
He was born in Dallas, TX on February 8, 1964, and he was raised in Euless TX. He attended Trinity High School and graduated in 1982. He received an Associate’s Degree in E-Business.
A musician, a government technician, a teacher, a friend, a son, a father, a husband, a man of God. These are only a few of Richard Zimmerman’s roles and accomplishments. In his 55 years of life, he devoted himself single-mindedly to his beautiful wife Lydia and his four children, Britani, William, Jessica, and Emily, enjoying 27 years of marriage and over 30 years of a celebrated career with the General Services Administration. But before all else, he was a man devoted to his Savior, a man who scoured the books of the bible, contemplated its words, and spoke of them almost as often as he breathed, leading his family in the way it should go, as much by his words as by his example.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, classic rock, playing World of Warcraft with his family, singing, playing guitar and drums, and working on his van. But his favorite past time by far was discussing and debating theology with his son, usually very loudly, whenever and wherever.
He is survived by his wife, Lydia, and his four children, Britani, William, Jessica, and Emily, his grandson, Haydn Grzybowski, his mother, Dorothy Zimmerman and partner Ken Hill, his sister, Kellie Zimmerman, and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his father, Richard Zimmerman Sr., and his mother and father in law, Brenda and Larry Pittser. He will be profoundly missed.
