Rob Turner

John Robert Turner Sr born into this life on July 12, 1941, to Clifton Roy “Bud” Turner and Francis Marie Schrock Turner in Oak Grove, La. He left this earth to be with his Lord Jesus, on Tuesday June 21, 2022, while his loving wife sat at his side holding his hand. He is preceded in death by his parents, and his brother Carl Turner.

While it was the hardest thing he has ever had to do, he left behind his devoted wife Madelyn Sue Turner, son’s John Turner of Odessa Tx, Clifton Wesley Turner of Whitney Tx, daughters Lisa Bethel of Aransas Pass Tx and Lori Reid of Hillsboro Tx, 11 grandchildren, 22 great grand children, 1 great great grandchild with a second great-great child due in August 2022.

He worked as a butcher for Safeway for 26 years, he then retired, and moved to Whitney Tx to be close to the water. He enjoyed working with wood and rummaging through garage sales in search of that diamond in the rough he could fix up. His greatest joy was spending time with his family and grand children, while drinking his chocolate shakes and eating fudge cycles. If you tried to throw out a popsicle stick, he would Give you “the look” until you dug it out of the trash and gave it to him, as he had plans to build a ship from those sticks.

He loved sitting on the porch, and drinking coffee, while watching the sunrise. He now enjoys watching the sun rise, from new heights, at the feet of Christ. He may be gone from our sight for but will remain forever in our hearts until that day we are once again reunited at the gates of heaven.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am Tuesday, June 28, 2022, at Marshall and Marshall Funeral Directors Chapel in Whitney with Cody Dixon officiating. Burial will follow at Bethlehem Cemetery in Whitney. Visitation will be prior to the service from 9:00-10:00 am.
