Robert Bruton, 97, of Hillsboro died Monday, June 16, 2008, at Homestead Nursing & Rehab in Hillsboro. Robert was born May 31, 1911 in Malone, Texas the son of William Robert and Sally B. Pound Bruton. For a number of years he lived in the James community and had lived in Hill County all of his life. During World War II, he served his country in the U. S. Army Air Corp. On February 13, 1942 he married Earline Rainbolt in Hillsboro. An active member of Walnut Street Baptist Church, Robert was also a member of the Hillsboro Senior Citizen's Organization. He farmed, was a used car dealer, and was an avid Dallas Cowboy fan. Preceding him in death were his parents; son, Danny Bruton in 2006; six brothers, Ottie, D.J., Allen, Fred, Cecil, and Odell Bruton; and three sisters, Josie Key, Ludie Roberson, and Argen Bledsoe. Survivors include his wife, Earline Bruton of Hillsboro; daughter, Judy Clay and husband, Clark, of Fairview; daughter-in-law, Evelyn Bruton of Mesquite; sister, Inez Beatty and husband, James L., of McGregor; eight grandchildren, Wendy Funk, Cindy Bruton, Tracie Smith, Robby Clay, Craig Clay, Jennifer Brown, Wade Bruton, and Joanna Huff; ten great-grandchildren, Kayla Uptmore, Kaycee and Kara Moore, Justin and Harrison Smith, Toby Clay, Ty Bruton, Cameron Fulgham, and Faith and Ryan Brown; and numerous nieces and nephews.
