Robert Clem

Robert Lawrence “Larry” Clem 71, of Lake Whitney, passed away on Friday, September 14, 2018 in Temple. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM Saturday, September 29, 2018 at Marshall and Marshall Funeral Directors Chapel in Hillsboro. Officiating will be Rev. Kelby Williams . Burial will be at 1:00 PM Monday, October 1, 2018 at the Dallas Ft. Worth National Cemetery with military honors.

He was born to William Earl Clem and Maewin Erma Newman on March 22nd, 1947 at the Methodist Hospital in Dallas, Tx. He was raised with his two brothers Bill and Mike in the small community of Beverly Hills inside Oakcliff, TX. He attended the Beverly Hills Baptist Church and was later drafted into the Army where he served from 1967-1969. He loved his country and served honorably. Larry had two children, Robert Lawrence Clem II and Carmen Noel O’Dea. He also leaves behind four grandchildren, Connor Patrick O’Dea, Kennedy Noel O’Dea, Stella Elizabeth Clem and Liam Lawrence Clem.

Larry loved to fish and enjoyed sharing that love with others by taking them fishing on his boat. He also excelled at golf and was the company ringer on company golf outings. In his youth he enjoyed playing baseball with various leagues and watched the game often on television. He loved watching other sports as well as he loved them all. In his later years he became interested in collecting coins. He would be known to change the channel suddenly to the coin channel to check out the hot deal of the day! He grew quite a collection for his grandchildren and loved showing them his finds. He was also a master bridge player in his younger years.

Larry was a kind and good hearted man. He always told jokes or would do something funny to make others feel better. He lived alone in his later years but loved his neighbors and they loved him. He was one to always help out someone in need. He was an avid news reader and watcher and was always up to date on current events but never really talked politics.

Larry was a man of the Lord and we know he is in Heaven with him. His hip and knee kept him from getting out to enjoy the things he loved but now he is in a better place and can play any sports he wants and visit with all the loved ones he has missed.
