Robert Gary Corbett, age 79 of Whitney, passed away peacefully at home on August 8, 2021.

He was born on June 23, 1942 in Valier, Pennsylvania to the late Eleanor and Wayne Corbett. Robert lived and attended elementary school in Grand Island, New York and graduated from Riverside High School in Buffalo, New York.  Robert joined the United States Navy and served honorably for four years attaining the rank of E-5.  While he was stationed at Mayport Naval Base near Jacksonville Beach, Florida, there he met his future bride, Linda Chandler.  They were wed in September, 1964.

Robert was a graduate of Northwood University.  He was employed at General Motors in Arlington, Texas as an robotics engineer in their training center.  He retired in 2004 after 31 years.  Robert enjoyed spending time with his family and traveling all over the United States and the Caribbean.  His many interests included woodworking and creating beautiful stained glass artwork for family and friends.  He was also an avid bowler for 30 years and bowled a perfect 300 game in league play in 1979.  Robert also held a black belt in karate.

He is survived by his loving wife of almost 57 years, Linda; son, Dwayne Corbett and wife, Rosa of Dallas, Thomas Corbett of Whitney, Texas; grandsons, Zachary Corbett of Austin, Chase and Connor Corbett of Dallas; great-grandson, Dakota Corbett of Austin; sister, Bonnie Coulter of Valparaiso, Indiana; brother Daniel Corbett and wife, Laurie of Himrod, New York.

There will be a private viewing and service for family only at this time in respect to Robert’s wishes.
