Robert “Bobby” Owen Parker, 65, of Hillsboro passed away Wednesday, March 11, 2015, in Galveston. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, March 16, 2015, at Central Baptist Church in Hillsboro with Rev. Darrel Beggs officiating. Burial will follow at Ridge Park Cemetery in Hillsboro. Visitation will be from 5:00-8:00 p.m. Sunday, March 15, 2015, at Marshall & Marshall Funeral Directors in Hillsboro.
Born December 5, 1949 in Nevada, Missouri, Bobby was the son of Robert Franklin and Ernestine Jeanette (Hibbs) Parker. He served his country in the United States Navy from 1969-1975 as a radio man on the ship. While serving in Vietnam he was honorably discharged. On June 1, 1974, he was united in marriage to Charlotte Sims in Waco. For 31 years, Bobby was employed with Southwestern Bell Telephone Company, retiring in 2010 as a customer service technician.
A loving husband, father, and poppy, Bobby loved his family and grandchildren unconditionally. Following his retirement, he began to take care and keep his grandchildren. In his spare time he enjoyed grilling, camping, being outdoors, going to the casinos with his best-friend, and especially spending time in Galveston. Bobby never met a stranger. He loved to talk, laugh, be a jokester, and make other people laugh. He was a devoted member of Central Baptist Church in Hillsboro, where he served on the baptismal committee, as an usher, and helped out in the kitchen.
Preceding him in death were his parents and a granddaughter, Kalynn Ann Rounsavall.
Survivors include his loving wife of 40 years, Charlotte Parker of Hillsboro; four children, John Robert Parker of Waco, Amanda Leigh Rounsavall and husband, Dana, of Hillsboro, Robert Thomas Parker and wife, Megan, of Hillsboro, and Rebecca Jeanett Ellison and husband Jon, of Kemp; brother, Terry Parker and wife, Tricia, of Leroy; two sisters, June Meador and husband, Ronnie, of West and Judy Laubert and husband, Joe, of Whitney; and seven grandchildren, Amber Jean Rounsavall, Jacob Lynn Rounsavall, Austin Marie Rounsavall, Shelton Lane Burrow, Paisley Jean Parker, Chloe Nicole Parker, and Jayden Kinsleigh Ellison.
