Robert Bob Thrush, 78, of Hillsboro died Saturday, January 10, 2009, in Hillsboro, Texas. There will be a memorial service at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 13, 2009, followed by visitation at Marshall & Marshall Funeral Directors Chapel in Hillsboro. Bob was born October 18, 1930 in Wichita, Kansas the son Glen Leroy and Elaine Iona Ocker Thrush. He lived most of his early life in Great Bend, KS. On November 6, 1948 he married Gussie Pearl Kohlman in Florence, KS and she preceded him in death on August 17, 1996. They lived in numerous locations in the United States and overseas in conjunction with his work as a petroleum engineer. Upon his semi-retirement in 1983, they moved to Hillsboro. After fully retiring from the petroleum industry, he worked with Melvin Peacock at Peacock's Service Station until the station closed. He remained very involved with his children and grandchildren and all of their activities. Also preceding him in death were his parents, one brother, and one sister. Survivors include his children, Terry Garrett of Hillsboro and John Thrush and wife, Gail, of Bryceville, FL; three grandchildren, Sunny Furry, Erik Thrush and wife, Tina, and Erin Thrush; and 4 great-grandchildren, Amber Thrush, Jeremy Pustejovsky, Emily Pustejovsky, and Regan Thrush. Memorials may be made to the National Kidney Foundation, 5429 LBJ Freeway Suite 630, Dallas, TX 75240 or Hillsboro Church of Christ Building Fund, P. O. Box 733, Hillsboro, TX 76645.
