"Gladly would he learn and gladly teach"

Professor of Science

Beloved Father and Husband

Preceded in death by: Father, Curtis William Treadwell and Mother, Irma Lee Boyd.  Siblings: Donald Ray Treadwell, Curtis Dale Treadwell, James Gordon Treadwell, David Neil Treadwell.  Survived by: Daughter, Virginia (Ginny) Lee Siscoe and her husband Randy Siscoe who he considered his son.   Siblings: Patricia Lee Roach, Lynda Gayle Mullen-Madrone, and Michael Kent Treadwell.

Everyone called my father Bob.  He was born in Llano, TX.  His father Curtis was a mechanic at Sears and his mother Irma was in charge of the children and home. Irma was a lover of flowers and had many pots of beautiful plants.

Bob attended high school in Austin, Texas and played football there. He joined the Marine Corps in 1954 and was very proud to be a Marine.  He enjoyed boxing in the Golden Gloves.  And, he earned funding for his education by serving as a Marine and receiving GI bill.

Bob earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Southwest Texas University and a Master of Science degree from Texas A&M University. He was a professor of Science.  Over the years, he taught Biology, Chemistry, Botany, Anatomy and Physiology, Zoology and Math and was the Head of the Science Department, managing a variety of programs including all the traditional sciences courses, nursing, PE and cosmetology programs at the Hillsboro and Cleburne campuses as well as extension courses in Stephenville. He retired in 2010.

I, Ginny Lee was his only child (1962) with his first wife and wonderful mother Nancy Ann Montrastelle.  He married Janie C. Kirk who was also a wonderful mother and wife.  The last few years of his life my father was with Eunice Parker his partner and long-time friend.  They were happy together until he passed.

He was a DJ at KHBR radio station.  He loved ‘spinning’ country music and having fans call in requests of songs.

Dad was passionate about plants, animals and fishing.  He was an avid gardener and his yard featuring many beautiful roses, clematis and other flowers was once selected as yard of the month by Hillsboro Garden Club. He adopted critters of all sorts and sizes over the years and volunteered with Paw Pals in Hillsboro for many years.  In particular he loved frogs, turtles and snakes.  It wasn’t uncommon for me to find a snake in a paper bag in the ‘ice box’ as he called it, when I was rummaging for something to eat.

My father loved having a smoke and a beer, Mexican food, breakfast (his favorite meal) and a good steak.  When we had holidays together in Wisconsin or another state, he always wanted to try the local microbrew.

I remember two things he said to me often when we would have talks about life and love.  He said:  ‘Baby, the only thing in the world that matters, is love.’  And, he told me he didn’t care what I decided to do with my life, but, he just wanted me to do my best.

My father did so much for me.  As a girl I spent the summers with him after my parents divorced.  He taught me love of family, friends, nature and music.  He and Janie gave me a week of summer camp and the highlight of my summer was a week or so at Na-Na & Pa-Pa’s to spend with them and my cousins.  Daddy took me to Hill College to see the science labs and giant reel to reel computer.  He taught me to play tennis and took me to guitar lessons out of town.  He would take a guitar lesson before I took mine.  He loved to pick up an acoustic guitar around the house to strum and sing a song often.  We would hold hands on the drive to lessons, admire the roadside flowers and animals along the way, listen to country or other soulful music on the radio and sing together.  When Doo Wop came on the radio, he would say; ‘Oh baby, listen to this…(he’d reach over and turn the volume up) Your mother and I danced a million miles to this music!’.

After we were married and bought a house, he would come to stay with us in our Wisconsin home and helped us by building a fence and porch for us.  And, we gardened together.  He bought many gardening tools and plants for me.  More recently he paid for me to go to yoga teacher training for my personal growth and healing from post trauma anxiety I had after my cancer.  This is one of the most meaningful gifts I have received and I will be forever grateful.

In lieu of flowers; Please donate to ChildFund-- childfund.org  or  Hill County Paw Pals--hcpawpals.org My hope is to have a memorial get together for friends and family when the pandemic of Covid-19 is mitigated and it is safer to gather, With, as Dad’s handwritten note requested; No preachin', No prayin' , No cryin'___ you are allowed to tell funny stories and sing "Blues Eyes Crying in the Rain".

Please contact me, (Ginny) to be included in a list of friends and family so I may notify you if/ when we may have a memorial.   Text 920-327-9891 or Facebook messenger; Ginny Lee Siscoe.
