Robert Lee Vandagriff, age 84 of Cransfill Gap, Texas passed away on Monday, February 27, 2023, after a long battle with cancer at Willow Park Rehab in Clifton, Texas. He went on hospice with Lutheran Sunset in his last 2 weeks while there. Thanks to all the wonderful nurses and staff for his care.
Robert was born July 30, 1938 in Anna, Texas to Robert Raymond and Floy Florence (Record) Vandagriff. He had 2 sisters, Chrisha (deceased) and Mary Pueh and 6 brothers, Gerald (Jerry) Vandagriff, James, Norvell, and Billy Gray, J.W. Pueh, and Buil Morris. Robert and his siblings were split up into adoption and orphanage at early ages. Life had many challenges, but God prevailed and he was saved in 1977 in Houston, Texas. A kind woman gave him a Bible and his new journey began as he learned to read and connect with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Robert joined the U.S. Marine Corp on March 20, 1956 in Dallas, Texas. He was united in marriage to Melba Jean Teinert (whom he still loved) and they had 3 children together. Daughter Vicki May (Vandagriff) Rhoton, and sons, (Bobby) Robert Gregory and Charles Lee Vandagriff. They lived in Houston and elsewhere in Texas where they enjoyed fishing and hanging out together. They moved to North Carolina for a while where Robert enjoyed playing with his dogs and gardening. He did a lot of witnessing for our Lord wherever he went and his daughter Vicki accompanied him while witnessing in North Carolina. He and Melba divorced.
Robert remarried Peggy Sue Owens and they had 1 daughter together, Dawn Michelle (Vandagriff) Tooke. They were later divorced in Houston, Texas. He worked many jobs as he was multi skilled. Robert worked as a mixer for a ceramic tile plant (1955-1956) in Dallas. He had done construction, at production plants ect. He owned and ran a gaming recreation type center in Irving, Texas when his children were young. Robert then moved from North Carolina to Cransfill Gap, Texas and worked at Clifton Molding and then for Brookshires as a sacker and stocker. He was very close to his cousins, Margaret Warren and Virginia Wright (both deceased), Charles, Betty, Beatrice and Barbara, whom all loved him very much.
He is preceded in death by his grandparents, parents, sister, Chrisha; brothers, Jimmy, Billy, and Norvell Gray; and Buil Morris; numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Robert is survived by his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren, sister, Mary Pueh; and brothers, Gerald (Jerry) Vandagriff and J.W. Pueh.
Memorial service will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, March 11, 2023, at Marshall and Marshall Funeral Directors Chapel in Whitney.
