Rocky Clarence Stephens, age 56, of Covington passed away Saturday, May 13, 2017, in Waco. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, May 18, 2017, at Marshall & Marshall Funeral Directors Chapel in Hillsboro with Rev. Eric Black officiating. Burial will follow at Covington Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 17, at the funeral home.

Rocky was born November 27, 1960 in Breckenridge to Jimmy Lee and Colene (Sullivan) Stephens. He grew up in Woodson and was a 1979 graduate of Ozona High School. He later attended Sul Ross University, where he played basketball, and received an engineering degree from TSTC in Waco. Rocky began his career with Lockheed Martin in Fort Worth as an engineer, where he was still currently employed.

On February 25, 1995, he was united in marriage to Marilyn Hemphill in Woodson. In his spare time, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, restoring vintage cars, designing homes, and anything mechanical. Rocky was very devoted to his family and friends. He was a member of Woodson Baptist Church.

Preceding him in death were his father, Jimmy Lee Stephens; two nephews, Stevie Stephens, and Charlie Stephens; and childhood friend, Mike Reed.

Survivors include his wife, Marilyn Stephens; mother, Colene Kilgore and husband, Don; three children, Brett McVean and wife, Erin, Phillip McVean, and Sara Kyle and husband, Andrew; brother, Randy Stephens and wife, Velinda; sister, Melinda Nichols and husband, Gary; eight grandchildren, Brandon McVean, Mekena McVean, Kylie McVean, Malayna McVean, Eli McVean, Ezra McVean, Graham Kyle, and Blake Kyle; three nieces, Amy Mercer and husband, Bobby, Cheyenna Stephens, and Jamie Stephens; and nephew, Rocky Nichols and wife, Claudia.

The Stephens family request that any monetary donations be made to the Covington City Hall, In memory of Rocky Stephens, P. O. Box 443, Covington, TX 76636.
