Rodney L. Criswell, 62, of Abbott passed away Thursday, May 5, 2016, at his residence. Lunch for family and friends will be provided starting at 12:30 p.m. Sunday, May 29, 2016, in the First United Methodist Church Family Life Center in Hillsboro with a memorial service to follow immediately.
Rodney was born September 26, 1953 in Fort Worth to Dean and Jeraldine (Weeks) Criswell. He grew up in Haltom City and was a 1972 graduate of Haltom High School. He served his country in the United States Air Force and was stationed in Colorado City, Colorado as a Security Specialist at Cheyenne Mountain in the Norad Security Complex.
Rodney went to work for CITGO Petroleum Company in Fort Worth and in 1984 was promoted to supervise the CITGO Petroleum Complex in Waco. He was later transferred to Explorer Pipeline. After 30 years of working in the petroleum industry, Rodney retired.
Rodney was united in marriage to Terrie on July 26, 1986 in Hillsboro. They both loved the outdoor life of boating, fishing, traveling, RVing for many years, and entertaining family and friends by cooking out on the patio. Rodney was also an avid hunter. He was a talker and had many stories to tell of his adventures in life and of the kids and grandkids.
Preceding him in death was his mother, Jeraldine Criswell.
Survivors include his wife, Terrie Criswell of Abbott; father, Dean Criswell of Arlington; children, Jason Criswell of Paradise, Brian Emlet and wife, Teresa, of Waxahachie, and Tera Wilson and husband, Rob, of Allen; grandchildren, Austin Emlet and wife, Leigh, of Waco, Ariel Jaecke and husband, Mike, of Lake Charles, LA, and Megan and Marley Markwardt, both of Allen; great-grandchildren, Cheyenne and Richard Jaecke, both of Lake Charles, LA, and Wren Emlet of Waco; brother, Ricky Criswell of Haltom City; sister, Jerri Howard of Arlington; and many other loving relatives and friends.
