Roger was born April 29, 1966 in Abilene to R. B. and Gertrude Cunningham. He grew up in Putnam and was a graduate of Baird High School. Roger worked for Cook Walden Funeral home in Austin for several years as an embalmer apprentice. He then received a degree in technology and went to work for Starlink as a GPS technician. He was a member of the Open Range Cowboy Church in Whitney and dearly loved his church family. His children and grandchildren were his world. He was known as many things and by many names…Dad, Pawpaw, Son, Brother and Uncle but most of all friend. He loved putting a smile on everyone’s face and he never met a stranger. Roger was preceded in death by his father, Rollie Bain Cunningham and sister, Wanda Cunningham Harris.
He is survived by his daughter, Meghan Chaney and husband, Terry; son, Kolby Cunningham; grandchildren, Joshua, Justin, Logan, and Mela; step-children, Amber Brown and husband, Adam, and son, Aidan, James Reeves and son, Caden; mother, Gertrude Cunningham Riffe; brother, Charlie Cunningham; sister, Martha Cunningham; nieces, Gena Moore and husband, Kenneth, and Amber Tiwater and husband, Tommy; nephews, Dusty Cunningham and William Heard and wife, Jennifer; and brother-in-law, Jay Harris.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be made in his honor to the Open Range Cowboy Church, P.O. Box 1603, Whitney, TX. 76692.
