Roger Dale “Rigger” Martin, 55, of Whitney passed away Friday evening, May 29, 2015 at Hill Regional Hospital. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM, Tuesday, June 2, 2015 at the Marshall & Marshall Funeral Directors Chapel in Hillsboro with Dr. Gerald Dudley of the Open Range Cowboy Church of Whitney officiating.

On June 30, 1959, Roger was born in Fort Worth to James C. and Janette (Fowler) Martin. For the past 20 years, he owned and operated R. D. Martin Construction in Whitney. Roger was truly a “people person” enjoying many activities and sharing time with family and friends. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, as well as an enthusiast of horseshoes, karaoke, dancing, singing and barbecuing. A very loving and caring person, he was always doing whatever he could to help others. Roger was of the Baptist faith.

Preceding him in death were his parents; two brothers, Ronald Miller and Billy Weldon; and one sister, Kimberly Weldon.

Roger and Pat Fabianke were united in marriage on October 25, 2013 in Whitney. Along with his wife, Pat, he is also survived by five children, Janette Martin, Lucy Dale Martin, Heath Martin, Keith Martin and Kasey Rose; four brothers, Michael Martin and wife, Trisha, Kenneth Miller and wife, Carol, Gary Weldon and wife, Shirley, and Roger Weldon; two sisters, Darlene Wren and Sandra Miller; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Donna and Mickey Adler; brother-in-law, Stan Miller; and numerous grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives and friends.
