Roger D. Votaw, 55, of Whitney passed away Monday afternoon, August 29, 2016, at Hill Regional Hospital. Graveside services will be held at Noon on Friday, September 2, at Peoria Cemetery with Rev. Claude Woods officiating. Visitation will be from 9:00-11:00 a.m. prior to the service at Marshall & Marshall Funeral Directors in Hillsboro.
Born November 16, 1960 in Hillsboro, Roger was the son of Earl and Mozelle (Sheffield) Votaw. He lived in Hill County all of his life where he worked with his family, who he loved dearly, in the concrete business. He was mighty in stature and in heart. Roger never met a stranger and would help anyone in need. A true outdoorsman and camper, he was an avid fisherman and enthusiastic hunter.
Preceding him in death were his father, Earl Votaw; four brothers, Earl Ray, Gary Don, Ronny, and Steve Votaw; and son-in-law, Adam Adkins.
Survivors include his mother, Mozelle Votaw of Hillsboro; two daughters, Brandy Adkins and Christina Votaw, both of Covington; two sisters, Caroline Smith and husband, Kent, and Debra Votaw, both of Hillsboro; and numerous nephews, nieces, great-nephews and nieces, extended family, and friends.
