Ronald Wayne "Ronny" Carter

Ronald Wayne “Ronny” Carter, 78, of Hillsboro passed away Thursday evening, November 12, 2020, at Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital in Cleburne.  He was a Daddy, Brother, and Son.  Graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, November 16, 2020, at Fairview Cemetery near Hubbard with Rev. Damon Emery officiating.  Visitation will be from 4:00-6:00 p.m. Sunday, November 15, at Marshall & Marshall Funeral Directors in Hillsboro.  The graveside service will be streamed live via Marshall & Marshall Funeral Directors' Facebook page.

Ronny was born on January 21, 1942, in Hubbard to Mattie Lynn Moser-Carter and Thomas Gibbs Carter. He was the oldest of 5 boys including Donald, Cecil, James, and Randy.

Ronny was a skilled laborer, mechanic, wrecker service liaison extraordinaire, and race car driver. He raced dirt track race cars with his dad, Thomas, and later he would build race cars for his son-in-law, Claude.

When he wasn’t working, Ronny enjoyed playing dominoes, fishing in his green “Minner” (the green minnow, his boat), cooking brisket on his cooker, or hanging out with various characters who came through the shop. He enjoyed hanging out with his cousins, Danny “Grass” Grice and Gary Morgan, or the many friends he had. Somethings he loved were drinking a few cold Budweisers, his Dr. Pepper, coffee, and the Dallas Cowboys.  He enjoyed dancing, fishing, hunting, his horses, going out to our “pasture”, and riding the tractor.

Ronny was a simple man, easy going, and he would do anything to help someone. He especially loved his family and his girls.  He had the biggest heart.

Ronny played in several bands throughout his life.  He knew his Bible from front to back.  He never missed an opportunity to watch an old western, and never hardly ever took a step without his boots, cap or cowboy hat on.

Ronny was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Mattie Lynn Carter; brothers, Donald and Cecil Carter; son, Corry Carter; ex-wife, Joy Emery; granddaughter, Kasey Simon; and several loved cousins, aunts, and uncles.

Ronny is survived by his brothers, Jim Carter and wife, Judy, and Randy Carter and wife, Melissa (Mosey); his daughters, Kelli Simon, Jenny Carter-Woodard and husband, Claude, Amanda Carter-West and husband, Trey, and Angie Carter-Lauderdale and fiancé (prospect), Alan Cooper; grandchildren, Cory and Karley Simon, Corey Woodard and wife, Amber, Camryn Woodard and fiancé, Bailie, Taylor Rollins and husband, Zach, Jacob, Blake, and Raegan Rollins, Hailey and Kylie Lauderdale, AJ and Nate Cooper, and Tristan and Jaden Glass; great-grandchildren, Era and Theo Simon and Braxton Woodard; as well as several beloved nieces, nephews, and cousins who cared deeply for him.
