Ronald "Marty " (Kf5Ixz) Godfrey Jr

Ronald Martin “Marty” Godfrey, Jr., (KF5IXZ) 47, of Aquilla passed away Friday, August 22, 2014 at a Houston hospital. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Tuesday August 26, 2014 at Marshall and Marshall Funeral Directors Chapel in Whitney with Rev. Todd Gill and Mr. Jack McNiel, Jr., officiating. Burial will follow at Whitney Memorial Park. Visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 P.M. Monday, August 25, 2014 at the funeral home.

Marty was born on April 24, 1967, in Ft. Worth, to Ronald Martin Godfrey Sr. and Janis Marie (Anders) Godfrey. He was raised in the Burleson and Crowley area and graduated from Crowley High School in 1986. On August 4, 1990, he married Susan Lee McNiel in Burleson. They moved to Aquilla in 2000.

Marty enjoyed hunting and fishing, spending time outdoors and working with his hands. An avid amateur ham operator, he was a member of the Lake Whitney Amateur Radio Club, Bosque County Amateur Radio Club, Texas State Guard Amateur Radio Club and the Heart of Texas Amateur Radio Club. For 10 years, he worked as a welder and fabricator for Synterna. Marty was a member of Waco Family Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Jan Godfrey, and sons, Daniel and Gabriel Godfrey.

Survivors include his wife, Susan Godfrey and children, Colt Godfrey and Riley Godfrey of Aquilla; father, Ronnie Godfrey and wife, Suz, of Glen Rose; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Jack McNiel, Sr., and wife, Kathy of Kempner; brothers, Ben Godfrey and wife Alysha of Cameron, and Justin Godfrey and wife Jennie, of Crowley, brother-in-law, Jack McNiel Jr. and wife Kathy of Bates City, Missouri; six nieces and 1 nephew; and many other relatives and friends.
