Rosa Mae Jean

Rosa Mae Jean, 98, of Hillsboro passed away Wednesday, February 6, 2013, at Town Hall Estates Nursing Home in Hillsboro. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 10, at Marshall & Marshall Funeral Directors Chapel in Hillsboro with Rev. Paul Clark officiating. Burial will follow at New Woodbury Cemetery in Woodbury. Visitation will be from 1:00-2:00 p.m. Sunday prior to service time at the funeral home.

Rosa Mae was born May 16, 1914 in Woodbury to John Frank and Lydia (Walker) Findley. On March 11, 1930, she married Leslie Odell Jean in Osceola and he preceded her in death on January 20, 1977. For many years, she worked as a sales clerk at Kress Variety Store in Hillsboro and also worked for Green Thumb Health Care as a records clerk.

A very active and faithful member of Woodbury Baptist Church for most of her life, Rosa Mae served as the secretary/treasurer there for many years. In 1993 she moved to Hillsboro and joined Walnut Street Baptist Church in 2003. One thing that she enjoyed doing most was sewing.

Also preceding her in death were her parents; two sisters, Tersey Brooks and Corene Brown; and two brothers, W. A. Findley and Raleigh Findley.

Survivors include her children, Glenda Bennett of Hillsboro, Bob Jean and wife, Betty, of Arlington, and Carolyn White and husband, Paul, of Marion, KS; seven grandchildren, Bobby D. Jean and wife, Leslie, of Burleson, Paula K. Hinkle and husband, Doug, of Rockwall, Don Leslie Bennett and wife, Wanda, of Hillsboro, Brian Bennett and wife, Sarah, of Cleburne, Kevin Winn and wife, Tammy, of Wichita, KS, Tamara Metz and husband, Todd, of McPherson, KS, and Kristi Griffith and husband, David, of Wichita, KS; eleven great-grandchildren; and eight great-great grandchildren.
