Rosalva Maria Rodriguez

Rosalva “Rosie” Maria Rodriguez, 51, passed away at Town Hall Estates in Hillsboro, Texas, on January 9, 2021, from complications of COVID-19.

Rosie was born in Powell, Wyoming, to Victor and Teresa Rodriguez on July 3, 1969. In early childhood, she received therapy from Northwest Child Development Center and later participated in gymnastics events in the Special Olympics in Thermopolis, Wyoming. She attended schools in Powell and graduated from Powell Senior High School in 1990. She went on to attend adult day school at Big Horn Enterprises in Powell. While there, she enjoyed social activities like bowling, swimming, crafting, shopping, and getting manicures. At home, her favorite activities were coloring, dancing and camping.

In October of 2010, Teresa and Victor moved to Hillsboro, Texas, where Rosie resided for the rest of her life. She became a resident of Town Hall Estates after declining health in February 2017. She received daily visits from her parents and frequent visits from her out of town siblings. Her caregivers at Town Hall Estates were tireless in their efforts to care for Rosie.

Rosie was a light in this world. She gave hugs freely, was free of malice and judgment, and exuded happiness. Her love of music and dancing was unparalleled. She was the epitome of innocence and will be missed by all who were fortunate enough to have known her.

Rosie is preceded in death by her grandparents, Guadalupe and Aurora Salinas of Powell, Wyoming, and Alberto and Refugio Rodriguez of Delicias, Chihuahua, Mexico. She is survived by her parents Victor and Teresa Rodriguez, siblings Victor (Faith) Rodriguez, Alicia (Aaron) Heisler, and Cynthia Rodriguez (Faron Ryan). She will also be missed dearly by her nieces and nephews Alejandro, Quintin, Gabriella Rodriguez; Auriana and Remy Robin; César Rodriguez and Diego Fleetwood, and the rest of her family and friends.

Due to the pandemic, a private service and Rosary will be held on Friday, January 15th at 1:00 PM CST at Marshall and Marshall Funeral Home in Hillsboro, Texas. The service will be available via live streaming on the Marshall and Marshall Funeral Home Facebook page. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Town Hall Estates in Hillsboro, Texas; Big Horn Enterprises in Powell, Wyoming; or the Special Olympics of Wyoming.
