Rose Marie "Rosie" (Whitfield) Brackin, of Itasca, went home to be with the Lord on February 2, 2025, at the age of 97. The visitation service will be held at Marshall and Marshall Funeral Directors in Hillsboro, Texas on Thursday, February 6 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM. Funeral services will be held at Marshall and Marshall Funeral Directors in Hillsboro, Texas on Friday, February 7 at 2:00 PM with interment following at Itasca Cemetery.
She was born on April 29, 1927, to Ernest and Pauline (Miller) Whitfield of Itasca, Texas. She was a proud graduate of Itasca High School and lived a life full of love, kindness, and dedication to her family as well as the community of Itasca.
Rosie married George Wesley Brackin of Itasca on December 8, 1945. Together, they enjoyed 72 years of marriage and were blessed with two sons. At a young age, Rosie worked and modeled for the Itasca Cotton Mill. She was an active and dedicated member of First Presbyterian Church of Itasca where she also served as the church secretary for over 40 years. Whether it was organizing church functions, lending a helping hand, or offering kind words, she touched many lives and was committed to serving her church community.
Above all, Rosie was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, daughter, sister, and friend. Her most cherished roles in life were being a mother and "Nene." Her unwavering devotion to her children and grandchildren was evident in everything she did. She filled her family's lives with unconditional love, steadfast support, and heartfelt guidance.
Rosie is survived by her two sons: David Wesley Brackin and wife Karen of Itasca, Regi Wayne Brackin and wife Sandra of Arlington; her two grandchildren: Alaina Sue (Brackin) Aday and husband Jeff of Midlothian, and Michael Scott Brackin and wife Hannah of Madisonville; her 10 great-grandchildren: Gillian Rose (Brackin) Gardner and husband Langston of College Station, Farryn Nicole Aday, Hannah Ruth Brackin, Adalynn Paige Aday, Kase Michael Brackin, Katie Hill Brackin, Myles Wayne Brackin, Macey Rose Brackin, Beau Wesley Brackin, and Becky Lee Brackin; her granddaughter-in-law: Martha Ruth (Waters) Brackin; and several nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Ernest and Pauline Whitfield; her three siblings, Ernest Edward Whitfield, Jeannine (Whitfield) Allen, and Merlin Miller Whitfield; her husband, George Wesley Brackin; and her grandson, David Wayne Brackin.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Walnut Street Baptist Church of Hillsboro, Texas.
