Rose Hollenshead

Rose Marie was born on September 8, 1911 in Burlington, Kansas to Frank W. and Frances Hoffmans Haight. She graduated from high school in Burlington and then graduated in 1932 with a B. A. degree from St. Mary of the Woods College in Terre Haute, Indiana. After school she worked in the family hardware and furniture stores in Burlington and Chanute, Kansas. On April 12, 1940, she married Cecil Boothe Hollenshead. The couple moved to Hillsboro in 1948 and owned and operated Rose Marie, Inc. dress factory for over 30 years. She was a member of Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church in Hillsboro. Very active all of her life, she found great enjoyment playing golf, bridge and working at her church. Preceding her in death were her parents, her husband Cecil on May 18, 1984, four brothers and 2 sisters. Survivors include: children; Richard Hollenshead and wife, Elva of League City; Bernie Hollenshead of Houston; Gail Stinson and husband, Doug of Charleston, West Virginia; brother-in-law, Maurice Merritt of Burlington, Kansas; sister-in-law, Missy Haight of Tulsa, Oklahoma; 11 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Charity of One's Choice
