Roy Lee McCullough, life-long resident of Hill County, died Wed., Nov. 26, 2008 at the age of 102. He and his 98 year old wife, Ruby Mae Ingram McCullough would have celebrated their 79th wedding anniversary on Thanksgiving Day, this Nov. 27th. Roy passed away peacefully at The Legends assisted living facility in Hillsboro, where the couple had made their home in recent years. Roy was born on July 28, 1906 to George Lucian and Maudie Mae Sinclair McCullough in Fort Worth, Texas. He was one of nine children in his family. On November 27, 1929 he married Ruby Mae Ingram in Itasca. Before retiring in 1969, Roy was a serviceman with Lone Star Gas Company for many years. He loved being a spectator of sports and playing dominoes. Roy and Ruby were long-time active members of First Baptist Church in Hillsboro. In 2004, Roy and Ruby received a letter from the President of the United States in honor of their momentous 75th year anniversary. Preceding him in death were his parents and a son, Roy Lynn McCullough. Roy is survived by his wife, Ruby, of Hillsboro; sister, Catherine Ralston, of Waxahachie; two daughters, Carolyn Mueck and husband, Victor, of Waco and Alyce Guynn of Austin. He is also survived by his daughter-in-law, Jan McCullough, of Landenberg, PA; grandchildren, Catherine Houghton, Amanda Lloyd, Roy Lawrence McCullough, Jorge Frank, Paula Farmer, Geoffrey Guynn, Justin Corsbie, Mercedes Gray; step-grandchildren, Diane Barnes, Victor Mueck, Jr., Edward Mueck, Chris Corsbie and Ben Corsbie; five great-grandchildren; six step-great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. The family would like to express their appreciation to the Legends's staff who has given much loving care to both Roy and Ruby, especially in Roy's final days.
