Roy Glenn Riddle, 82, of Whitney, passed away on January 22, 2017 at a Cleburne hospital. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, January 25, 2017, at Marshall and Marshall Funeral Directors in Whitney with Rev. Kenny Kennedy of the Trail to the Cross Cowboy Church, officiating. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Garden of Memory near Hillsboro. A visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m., on Tuesday, January 24 at the funeral home.

Roy was born on September 16, 1934, in Whitney, to Edgar and Autria (Rowe) Riddle. He never lived more than 12 miles from where he was born. On April 7, 1956, he married May Lou Ince and she preceded him in death on May 12, 1993.

He worked for the Hill County Soil and Water Conservation District in various capacities for 58 years. A peanut farmer who liked to raise cattle , he was also known as a “baling wire mechanic”. In his spare time, he also enjoyed playing the wash tub bass.

On December 20, 1998, he married Vestal Stowe. He was a member of Woodbury Baptist Church. Since he enjoyed square dancing, he was a member of the Hill County Hoedowners square dance club as well of the the Cleburne Curli-Q’s square dance club. He was a member of the Oddfellows, and was also one of the founders and a board member of the Hill County Water Board and was also one of the founders of the Peoria VFD.

He was preceded him in death by his parents.

Survivors include his wife, Vestal Riddle of Whitney; his nephews who he raised like his sons, Jessie Joseph Ince and wife Rhonda of Whitney, James “Bubba” Ince and wife Patsy of Whitney, Jerry Glenn Ince and wife Lisa of Richmond, Jason Ince and wife, Kim of Whitney and John David Ince and wife, Shanda of Schertz; step-children, Gayland Auten of Belton, Perry Auten and wife, Suzanne of Whitney and Twana Turner and husband, Ronnie of Cleburne; an aunt, Marie Carmichael of Hillsboro; step-grandchildren; step-great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews, great-nieces and nephews; great-great nephews; and sisters-in-law, Minnie Pearl Ince and Velta Ince.
