Ruby Lee (Burch) Anthony

Ruby Lee Anthony, our sweet and loving Mom and Nana, age 96 of Whitney, Texas went to meet her Lord Wednesday, July 12, 2023, in Hillsboro. Ruby was born on May 28, 1927, to Benjamin Lee and Mae Burch in Sabine, Texas. She grew up in Orange, Texas where she met and married the love of her life, J.W. Anthony, and they were married for 53 years.  Ruby was a wonderful cook, great singer “she loved the old hymns!”, she loved dancing and playing the guitar. Ruby would help anyone, she fed so many people, and her door was always open. She will be truly missed by family and friends. Ruby truly loved her family. Our loss is heaven’s gain.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, J.W. Anthony, and her sons, Johnny Anthony, Jr. and Jackie Lee Anthony; 2 grandchildren, Deanna Jones and Johnny Johnson.

Ruby is survived by her three daughters, Mary Flournoy, wife of Larry, Doris Johnson, wife of Gene, and Betty Mikeska; daughter-in-law, Sharon Anthony, wife of Johnny Jr.; 13 grandchildren; 27 great grandchildren; many great-great grandchildren and nieces and nephews; and many friends.  A special thank you to Anthony Girard for loving our mom as his own and always being there for her. There are so many others that were part of her life, for whom we are so thankful.

A celebration of life will be held at Marshall and Marshall Funeral Directors in Whitney at 11:00 am on Friday, July 14, 2023, with Eddie Booth officiating. A burial will follow at Hillcrest Garden of Memory in Hillsboro. A visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 pm Thursday, July 13, 2023., at Marshall and Marshall in Whitney.

We would like to give a special thanks to the Peoria Baptist Church for providing the wonderful meal after the services.
