Ruby Lewis

Ruby was born December 31, 1926 in the Woodbury Community, of Hill County, Texas to Hugh and Robbie Burel White Stringer. She lived in Woodbury, Hillsboro, and Whitney all of her life. On September 19, 1944 she married Troy Fred Lewis in Whitney, Texas. She worked at J.C. Penny and Sears, as deputy district clerk at Hill Co. District Court for 12 years, purchasing Manager at Hillcrest Carpet Manufacturer, and purchasing manager at Vesuvius USA, retiring in 1989. Preceding her in death were her parents. She was a member of the Walnut Street Missionary Baptist Church of Hillsboro. Survivors include her husband, Fred Lewis of Whitney; a son, Fred Lewis and wife, Micki, of Melissa; a sister, Bobbie Sides and husband, Herman, of Vaughan; a granddaughter, Jinnie Gamble and husband, John, of Abilene; and an uncle, O.B. Stringer of Hillsboro.
