Ruby Juanette “Wannie” Cook Williams, 86, of Lubbock passed away Monday, May 27, 2019, at The Plaza of Lubbock. Visitation will be held from 10:00-11:00 a.m. Friday, May 31, 2019, at Marshall & Marshall Funeral Directors in Whitney. Graveside services will be held at Noon on Friday, May 31, at Smith Bend-Coon Creek Cemetery near Laguna Park with Pastor Greg Johnson officiating.
Born February 23, 1933, in Hillsboro, she was the daughter of Jack and Juanita Cook. After marrying in 1950, Wannie and Frankie Williams lived in Baytown near Houston. Later in their marriage, the couple lived in Clifton and Hico.
Wannie was an avid member of The Pentecostal Church in Clifton and later was on the board at The First Church of The Nazarene in Whitney, where she lived for over 30 years. Wannie was very domestic and a dedicated mother/grandmother. She was a crafter and excellent pie maker, hence her nickname “Pye.” Wannie lived at The Plaza of Lubbock over the past two years to be closer to her daughter.
Preceding her in death were her parents; twin sister, Jackie Shelley; and husband, Frankie Williams.
Survivors include her siblings, Hoyt Clive Cook and wife, Kay, of Whitney, Barbara Fay Hill of Grafford, and George Steven “Pete” Cook of Lake Dallas; daughter, Elizabeth Wells of Lubbock; granddaughter, Phebe Wells Rattray and husband, Evan, of Lubbock; two great-granddaughters, Dagney and Izabella Teakell; and her only great-great grandchild, Zane Teakell.
