Ruby Ann Zettler, 87, of Mesquite passed away Tuesday, May 19, 2015, at Town East Rehab and Healthcare in Mesquite. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, May 22, 2015, at Marshall & Marshall Funeral Directors Chapel in Hillsboro with Rev. John Schelter of Our Savior Lutheran Church in Mesquite officiating. Burial will follow at Walling Cemetery near Malone. Visitation will be from 10:00-11:00 a.m. Friday at the funeral home prior to service time.
She was born December 10, 1927 near Brandon to Fritz and Elfrieda (Schrieber) Schronk. Her confirmation verse was Psalm 37:5 and her confirmation song was “Jesus Lead Thou On.” Ruby was married to Eulan Zettler for 57 years before he preceded her in death in 2003. They were blessed with three children, Ronnie, Kenny, and Paula. She went to work at Montgomery Ward after all three of her children graduated from high school. After it closed, she went to work at a bank until it’s closure. Before her retirement, she was employed at Bynum School for five years as librarian and teacher’s aide for the 5th and 6th grades. An excellent seamstress, Ruby made most of her and Paula’s clothes. She loved being outdoors tending to her beautiful flowers of many colors. Ruby also grew lots of vegetables and canned many dill pickles which she shared with her family and neighbors. She and Eulan both loved to go dancing. She was active in her church that she attended every Sunday morning and taught the intermediate class.
Also preceding her in death were her parents; son, Kenny Zettler; brother, Alvin Schronk; and sister, Louise Poldrack.
Survivors include her son, Ronnie Zettler of Red Oak; daughter, Paula Hester and husband, Ken, of Mesquite; two sisters, Clydene Young and Delores Freels both of Hillsboro; seven grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
