Rufus Sanderlin

Rufus Sanderlin, age 92, a long-time resident of Aquilla, TX, passed away on Monday, December 6, 2021, in Waco, TX.  A graveside service will be held at 11:00 am Saturday, December 11, 2021, at Whitney Memorial Park in Whitney.

Rufus was born on September 2, 1929, in Crosbyton, TX to Rufus K. and Cora Lee (Morrison) Sanderlin. He met his wife Lucy, in Kyoto, Japan while he was in the service and they were married on January 12, 1951, in Kobe, Japan. After he completed his military service, they settled in Fort Worth, and lived in Bedford and Rendon before retiring to Aquilla in 1990.
For many years Rufus and Lucy ran their family business, Calidad Foods, in Fort Worth. After retirement, Rufus owned and operated U-Wash Carwash in Whitney.

Preceding him in death were his parents; daughter Cecilia Shelton; five sisters; three brothers and a great-grandchild, Delaney White.

Survivors include daughter, Cora Lee Praught and husband, Eric of Hurst; son, Mike Sanderlin and wife, Stephenie of Arlington; son-in-law, Danny Shelton of Aquilla; six grandchildren, Kelly White and husband, Mark of Euless, Collin Praught and wife, Emily of Orcutt, CA, Jennifer Griffin and husband, Greg of Allen, Andy Shelton and wife Cyra, of Aquilla, TX, Erin Villanueva and husband of Arlington, Wade Sanderlin and wife of Arlington; eleven great-grandchildren, Kylie White, Dylan White, Ellie Praught, Wyatt Praught, Kristiana Griffin, Maegan Griffin, Ashtin Shelton, Jazen Shelton, Keilyn Shelton, Alexandra Sanderlin, and Morgen Sanderlin.
