Russ Wess Wise, passed away Thursday evening, March 26, 2015, at his home in Peoria surrounded by family. He was 59 years old and a life-long resident of Hillsboro. Private graveside services will be held at Vaughan Cemetery. His family will hold a memorial service at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 31, 2015, at Whitney Fellowship in Whitney.
Russ was born October 5, 1955 in Anson, Texas to Collins and Jean (Reddy) Wise. He graduated from Hillsboro High School and attended Hill Junior College. After working several years offshore in the oil and gas industry, he returned to Hillsboro to join the family business, Wise Oil Company. On May 5, 1984, Russ married the love of his life, Kim Curtis. He was an avid outdoorsman. He loved to hunt, fish, and go camping with family and friends. He also enjoyed playing golf and listening to the blues. Russ was a wonderful family man. He was a loving husband, a caring father and grandfather, and dear, life-long friend to many. Preceding him in death were his parents.
Survivors include his loving wife of 30 years, Kim Wise of Hillsboro; two children, Kelly Divin and husband, Joshua, and Colin Wise and Christie, all of Hillsboro; brother, Ronnie Wise and wife, Aureliane, of Houston; sister, Randy Lee and husband, Chip, of Houston; two grandchildren, Haylen Wise and Claire Collins Divin; several nieces and nephews; two brothers-in-law; and many, many good friends.
