Ruth Aston

Ruth Aston, 93, of Whitney, passed away on September 20, 2015, at a local nursing home. A graveside service, under the direction of Marshall and Marshall Funeral Directors in Whitney, will be held at 10:00 AM, Thursday, September 24, 2015, at Ridge Park Cemetery in Hillsboro, with Pastor David Murphy, officiating. A visitation will take place from 5-7 PM on Wednesday, September 23, 2015, at the funeral home.

Ruth was born on February 4, 1922, in Brandon, to the late Miles Henry and Alta Beulah (Higgins) Murphy. On January 6, 1941, she married Pete Aston and he preceded her in death on June 30, 1969. For many years, she worked as a nurse’s aide at Grant - Buie Hospital in Hillsboro.

She loved to cook and bake and enjoyed crochet and needlework and spending time with her family. She was of the Assembly of God faith.

She was preceded in death by two sisters, Ivy Brockett and Geneva Shaw; four brothers, Earl, L.D., M.H., and Floyd Murphy.

Survivors include brothers, Gilbert Murphy of Clifton and Ralph Murphy of Aquilla; a sister Frankie Rose of Whitney and many nieces and nephews.
