Ruth Haney, 84, of Hillsboro passed away Thursday, May 17, 2012, at her residence. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, May 18, 2012, at Marshall & Marshall Funeral Directors Chapel in Hillsboro with Rev. Edward Sumrall officiating. Burial will be Saturday, May 19, 2012, at Grand View Memorial Park in Pasadena. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to service time Friday at the funeral home.
Ruth was born June 18, 1927 in Little Rock, AR to Jessie Newton Bunch and Nannie Willie (Olgelsby) Holm. On June 29, 1946 she married Ora Earl Haney and he preceded her in death on January 12, 1972. For 33 years she worked at Wal-Mart in Hillsboro, retiring in 2012. An avid sports fan, Ruth loved the Texas Rangers, Dallas Cowboys, and Dallas Mavericks. Her favorite past times were reading, crocheting, arts and crafts, and painting. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Hillsboro.
Also preceding her in death were her parents; step-father and step-mother, Augie Holm and Rosie Bunch; two brothers; sister, Myrtle Miller; and niece, Angie Bass.
Survivors include her children, John Earl Haney and wife, Delta, of Rosharon, Mary Watson of Waco, Donna Taylor and husband, Steve, of Pasadena, and Deborah Buxkemper and husband, Bill, of Hillsboro; eight grandchildren, Emily Pickett, Paul Buxkemper, Shawn Haney, Amanda Gonzalez, Angie Edmonds, Sarah Watson, Joshua Taylor, and Shelby Taylor; 11 great-grandchildren, Jessica and Paige Edmonds, Liam and Colin Haney, Emilio, Ian, and John Gonzalez, Hayley and Kyle Pickett, and Kierstyn and Ashton Buxkemper; and special friend, Darlene Burgamy.
