Ruth Minker

Ruth Freeman Minker, 82, of Houston passed away Friday, July 21, 2017, at West Houston Medical Center. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 26, 2017, at Marshall & Marshall Funeral Directors Chapel in Hillsboro with Rev. Paul Clark of Walnut Street Baptist Church officiating. Burial will follow at Ridge Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1:00-2:00 p.m. Wednesday prior to service time.

Ruth was born October 10, 1934 in Hillsboro to Rev. James Lee and Mozelle (Garrison) Freeman. She lived in Hillsboro her whole life until moving to Granbury in the 1990's. On April 4, 1972, Ruth was united in marriage to Richard Minker.

For the past twelve years she resided in Houston. Ruth enjoyed reading and crafts including liquid embroidery. During her years in the nursing home, she loved to read murder mysteries and watch westerns and her “stories” on television. She was of the Baptist faith.

Preceding her in death were her daughter, Bobbie Moss; parents; sister, Nell Stucker; sister-in-law, Margaret Freeman; brother-in-law, Bill Waits; and two nephews, Billy Waits and Johny Freeman.

Survivors include her husband, Richard Minker of Bowie, AZ; three children, Elizabeth Ann Johnson of Hillsboro, Linda Gail McKenzie of Houston, and Thomas Ray Moss; two brothers, James Ray Freeman and wife, Janet, of Conroe and Robert Lee Freeman of Houston; two sisters, Bobbie Irene Landtroop and husband, Garth, and Betty Lou Waits, both of North Carolina; seven grandchildren, Kliff Bohne and wife, April, of West, Adam Johnson of Hillsboro, David Johnson Hillsboro, Thomas McKenzie of Houston, Kimberly Archer of Meadows Place, Jason Moss of Broken Arrow, OK, and Amy Neagle of Hillsboro; 13 great-grandchildren; one great-great grandson; numerous nieces and nephews; and other extended family.
