Ruth Catherine (Edwards) Owens

Ruth Catherine Owens, 91, of Waxahachie passed away Friday, January 6, 2023, at Keenland Nursing Home in Weatherford.  Graveside services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, January 13, 2023, at Ridge Park Cemetery in Hillsboro with Pastor Sandra Brisbon officiating.  Visitation will take place prior to service time from 10:00 a.m. until Noon at Marshall & Marshall Funeral Directors in Hillsboro.

Ruth was born August 22, 1931, in Teague, TX, to George Alma and Willie Mae (Key) Edwards.  She attended schools in Teague and Ennis.  Following her graduation from Ennis High School, she attended Indian School in Claremore, OK, and obtained her LVN.  Ruth mainly worked in nursing homes because she said people in the nursing homes needed more care than the ones in the hospitals.  In 2014, she retired from Park Manor Nursing Home in Waxahachie.

She was united in marriage to Paul E. Owens and he preceded her in death on February 21, 1993.  In her spare time, Ruth enjoyed crocheting, embroidering, sewing, and the many other hobbies she had.  She was of the Baptist faith.

Also preceding her in death were her parents, two brothers, and six sisters.

Survivors include her son, Edwin Owens; and close niece, Wanda Evans.
