Ruth Williams, 88, of Waxahachie died Wednesday, October 15, 2008, at Baylor Medical Center in Dallas. Ruth was born March 26, 1920 in Rogers, Texas the daughter of William Richmond and Pearlie Mae Cottingham Perry. She had lived in Mertens most of her life and graduated from high school there. On March 4, 1939 she married L. A. Hotshot Williams in Hillsboro and he preceded her in death on August 28, 2001. They farmed in Mertens for many years. A member of First Baptist Church in Mertens, she taught preschool Sunday school for nearly 40 years and also was very active in all areas of the church. She loved to sew and tend to her flowers and vegetable garden. She was an excellent seamstress and cook. Ruth was a lifetime member of Eastern Star in Hillsboro. Also preceding her in death were her parents, three sisters, and three brothers. Survivors include her four children, Julia Lynn Muesse and husband, Curtis, of Stone Mountain, GA, Charles R. Williams and wife, Sue, of Grand Prairie, Sandra Kay Moreland of Mesquite, and Charlotte Elaine Gardner of Waxahachie; two brothers, C. D. Perry and wife, Joann, of Fort Worth and Marion Perry and wife, Neva, of Seagoville; seven grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren; one great-great grandson; and numerous nieces and nephews. Memorials may be made to the charity of one's choice.
