S. L. "Butch" Nicholas passed away March 11, 2005 in a Waco hospital. He was the son of S. L. and Lola Nicholas, Sr. He married Kathryn Barnett on September 9, 1974 and had worked as a truck driver for M. Lipsitz for 14 years. S. L. loved to be outdoors, fish, worked on antique tractors and go to truck shows, liked John Wayne movies and western novels. Preceding him in death were his parents, infant daughter, Janet Lynn Nicholas, step-mother, Radie Nicholas and brother, Damon Nicholas. Survivors include his wife, Katy Nicholas of Abbott; children, Penny Beardsly and husband, Curtis of Osage, Kansas, Jessie ?Hoss? Nicholas of Beaumont, Laura Gray of Lexington, Kentucky,Steve Lilley and wife, Nancy of Fayetteville, North Carolina, Dennis Lilley and wife, Lola of Bangs, Scott Lilley of Brownwood, Darrell Gray of Trophy Club; brothers, Randy Nicholas and wife, Darby of Brownwood, Roland ?Rick? Nicholas and wife, Susan of Bangs, Johnny Nicholas and wife, Jean of Menard, Billy Joe Nicholas and wife, Mellie of San Marcos, Wayne Nicholas and wife, Jan of Sara Dosa, CA; sisters, Wanda Barnett of San Antonio, Helen Jodoin and husband Bill of San Antonio, Nadie Stroud and husband Tom of Hong Kong, China; grandchildren: Jeffery Johnson and wife, Kris of Denton, Sara Lilley of Fayetteville, North Carolina, Jessica Lilley of Stephenville, Steven Lilley of Fayetteville, North Carolina, Megan Gray of Lexington, Kentucky, Erick Lilley and Bangs, Nickie Check of Osage, Kansas, Robert Check of Osage, Kansas; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
