Sam Bennett

Sam Odell Bennett, 90, of Hillsboro died Tuesday, July 31, 2007, at Hill Regional Hospital in Hillsboro. Sam was born May 22, 1917 in the Bethel Community, Hill County, Texas the son of Doyle Abbe and Martha Clark Bennett. He grew up and lived in Hill County all of his life. On October 17, 1936 he married Lilly Biggs and she preceded him in death on May 28, 2006. For several years he farmed, ranched, and ran dairies. Before retiring in 1977, he worked for the Texas Highway Department for 20 years. His favorite thing to do was go to the cattle sale on Thursdays with Lilly. He loved to trade and swap things, as well as cattle and horses. Also preceding him in death were his parents. Survivors include a sister, Addie Owens of Hillsboro; and many nieces and nephews. Memorials may be made to the charity of one?s choice.
