Sandy Cox, 45, of Hillsboro passed away Friday, August 14, 2020, at Baylor Scott & White Medical Center-Hillcrest in Waco. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, August 18, 2020, at Marshall & Marshall Funeral Directors Chapel in Hillsboro with Brother Gary Kreder officiating. Burial will follow at Vaughan Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Monday, August 17, at the funeral home.
She was born on July 27, 1975, in Hillsboro to Alan Lee Markwardt and Donna Jean (Kelm) Rogers. Following her graduation as the 1993 class Valedictorian of Bynum High School, Sandy went on to further her education at Bauer College pursuing a career in fashion. After college, Sandy continued her love for fashion becoming a retail manager in the clothing industry. During this time, she was responsible for overseeing the process of new store openings in several different states. For the past seven years Sandy has been the office manager for Sew Krazy Embroidery and Graphics and Centex Trailers, both in Hillsboro.
On September 18, 2004, Sandy was united in marriage to Michael Cox in Hillsboro. She was a very devoted and loving wife, mother, daughter, sister, daughter-in-law, aunt, and friend. A ray of sunshine, Sandy always wore a smile on her face. She was a giver to everyone. Spending time with her family and friends brought her great joy.
She was a faithful member of Vaughan Baptist Church, where she served as the church secretary.
Those left to cherish her memory include her loving husband of 15 years, Michael Cox of Hillsboro; children, Ashley Sanchez and Michael Cox II, both of Hillsboro; father and step-mother, Alan and Phillis Markwardt of Bynum; mother, Donna Rogers of Antlers, OK; brothers, Scott Markwardt and wife, Randi, of Bynum, Robert Jones and wife, Keri, of Killeen, and Luis Chavez, Jr. of Hillsboro; sisters, Shannon Birchett and husband, Chip, of Springtown and Tiffany Kelley and husband, Cody, of Bynum; several nieces and nephews; and numerous other extended loving family and friends.
