Sarah Beth Weigelt age 88 passed away January 5th, 2023, at her home. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 am Monday, January 9, 2023, at Our Savior Lutheran Church with Pastor Phillip Wottrich officiating in Whitney, Texas. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Garden of Memory in Hillsboro. Visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 pm Sunday, January 8, 2023, at Marshall and Marshall Funeral Directors Chapel in Whitney.
Sarah was born December 25, 1934, in Converse, Louisiana to Enoch Dennis Gandy and Roma Jewel Salter. Sarah graduated from Longview High School in 1951. She was united in marriage to Roger Duane Weigelt on April 1, 1954, In Sedalia, Missouri where Roger was Stationed with the US Air Force at Whiteman Air Force Base. Being at a military wife there were many duty stations, their son Dennis was born at Hamilton Air Force Base in California, where their daughter Carolyn was born in Elmendorf AFB in Alaska.
Sarah was a charter member of Our Savior Lutheran Church and a member of the LWML. She was also, a member of the American Legions Auxiliary 522 and the VFW Auxiliary.
She is preceded in death by her son, Dennis Duane Weigelt; sisters, Eunice Gandy and Virginia Nelson and husband, James; brother, James Gandy.
Sarah is survived by her husband, Roger of 68 years; daughter and son-in-law, Carolyn and Tony Wright all of West; grand cat, Tuffy; sister-in-law, Carol Gandy of McKinney; and several nieces and nephew.
Memorials may be made to Our Savior Lutheran Church in Whitney.
