Sergio Mercado

Sergio Mercado, 30, of Hillsboro passed away Friday, September 23, 2016, in a Dallas hospital. A rosary will be recited at 6:00 p.m. Sunday, September 25, 2016, at Marshall & Marshall Funeral Directors Chapel in Hillsboro with visitation to follow until 9:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Monday, September 26, at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church in Hillsboro with Father Ouseph Thekkumthala as celebrant. Burial will follow at Ridge Park Cemetery in Hillsboro.

Sergio was born September 6, 1986 in Waco to Jose and Maria (Lopez) Mercado. He grew up in Hillsboro and was a 2005 graduate of Hillsboro High School. He was very family oriented and loved spending time with his children. In his leisure time, Sergio enjoyed drawing, driving around in his 1986 Cadillac, playing with his pet companion Pit Bulls, Charlie and Lucy, and cheering on the Dallas Cowboys. He was a member of Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church in Hillsboro.

Survivors include his wife, Disbet Aguilar of Hillsboro; parents, Jose and Maria Mercado of Hillsboro; children, Sergio, Jr. and Xzavier Mercado of Hillsboro; two brothers, Alfredo Olarte of Hillsboro and Martin Mercado of San Francisco, CA; six sisters, Pilar Ramirez of Hillsboro, Marycarmen Lopez of Hillsboro, Cindy Lopez of Hillsboro, Lucia Mercado of Arlington, Lety Mercado of San Francisco, CA, and Gloria Mercado of San Francisco, CA; several nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives; and a host of friends.
