Sharon Epting, 55, of Hillsboro died Sunday, October 24, 2010, at her residence. Sharon was born May 9, 1955 in Phoenix, AZ the daughter of Bill and Ester Proffitt Stacey. In 1973 she graduated from Carson High School in Carson, CA and received her associates degree in nursing from Hill College in 1998. She worked as an LVN at Hill Regional Hospital, Town Hall Estates Nursing Home, and most recently at West Rest Haven Nursing Home. On October 26, 2001 she married Boyd Epting in Hillsboro. She was a member of Line Street United Methodist Church in Hillsboro and the DAV Ladies Auxiliary. An avid hummingbird collector, Sharon loved doing needlepoint, working in her flower beds and yard, dancing, and horses. Preceding her in death were her father; step-father, C. O. Gibson; sister, Carolyn White; and brother, John Gibson. Survivors include her husband, Boyd Epting of Hillsboro; mother, Ester Gibson of Taft, CA; sons, Darrel Wayne Cockerham and wife, Sabrina, of Hillsboro and Keith Baker of Whitney; brothers, James Stacey and wife, Deanette of Dell City, OK, Carl Stacey of Telequah, OK, and Christopher Gibson of Florence, CO; sister, Sue Nicholson of Taft, CA; grandchildren, Caley and Caleb Cockerham both of Hillsboro and Jacob Baker of Whitney.
