Sharon Willingham

Sharon Lee Willingham 80, of Whitney, passed away on Saturday, September 1, 2018. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, September 6, 2018, at White Bluff Chapel near Whitney with Rev. Terry Cosby officiating. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Garden of Memory near Hillsboro. Visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 5, at Marshall & Marshall Funeral Directors in Whitney.

Sharon was born on March 11, 1938 in Peoria, Illinois to the late Nicholas and Nellie(Wall) Closen. She spent her school years in Peoria, Illinois graduating from Manuel High School in 1956. Sharon married Terry Waldon Willingham on January, 16,1956, in Corinth, Mississippi. They lived in numerous places including Aurora, IL, Plano, IL., Mentor, Ohio, Morton, IL. Sao Paulo, Brazil returning to Morton, IL., then finally to Joliet, IL., during the 37, years Terry was working for Caterpillar. In 1995, they moved to Whitney to enjoy their retirement.

Taking care of and being with her family was what brought Sharon the most joy in life. Sharon enjoyed crocheting, water color, water aerobics and golfing. She was an active member of the crochet club at White Bluff Chapel, where she enjoyed making bonnets and dolls for charities. She was a member of White Bluff Chapel.

She was also preceded in death by her sister Gloria Young

Survivors include her husband, Terry Waldon Willingham, of Whitney; children, Lori Jean Willingham of Hillsboro,TX., Terry Michael Willingham and wife, Kathleen Ann of Rochester, MI. Tracy Lee Willingham of Whitney; grandson, Jeffrey Steffen of Mesquite,TX; great-grandaughter, Sophia Sky Steffen of Greenville, TX. brother-in law Dale Young, of Brimfield, IL. sister-in-law, Wanda Lucille Haynes of Oceanside, CA. Numerous nieces and nephews and special pet companion Bonnie.
