Sherry Diann (Sullivan) Hammer

Sherry Diann Hammer (71) of Whitney, Texas, passed away Sunday, November 28, 2021, in Waco, Texas.  Graveside services will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, December 3, 2021, at Hillcrest Garden of Memory, Hillsboro, Texas.  Visitation will take place from 5:00 to 7:00 pm, Thursday, December 2, 2021, at Marshall and Marshall Funeral Directors, Hillsboro, Texas.

Sherry was born July 27, 1950, in Lubbock, Texas, to John L. and Eunice (Tacker) Sullivan.  She worked in law enforcement for forty years as a 911 Dispatcher and Jail Captain.  Sherry also worked briefly in an Assistant District Attorney’s office in Georgia.  Hobbies included making jams, jellies, and salsas, arts and crafts, and computer games.  She found joy in helping others and loved her family more than anything.  Sherry especially cherished her grandchildren and never met a stranger.  Always a problem solver, she was generous to a fault.  Above all else, Sherry valued her faith in God above and will be remembered for her kindness.

She is preceded in death by her parents, John L. and Eunice Sullivan, brother, Eddie Sullivan, and daughter, Kristen Creech.  Sherry is survived by her husband, Jimmy Hammer; her children, James Karnes and his wife, Carol, Jeffrey Hammer and his wife Katie, and SSG Jeremy Hammer; her brothers, John L. Sullivan, Jr., and his wife Vicki, William Sullivan, and Billy Sullivan and his wife Marina; her sisters, Linda Loutherback, Cindy Cooper and her husband Keith; her sister-in-law, Becky Sullivan and her son Sammy; and her grandchildren, Trey and Josh Karnes, Jeremy Hammer, Jr., Laura Lynn Kucera, Kevin Gilliam, and Lacey Gilliam.
