Shirley Mccreary

Shirley McCreary, 55, of Gholson passed away Monday, January 16, 2012, at her residence. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, January 19, 2012 at Marshall & Marshall Funeral Directors Chapel in Hillsboro. Burial will follow at Itasca Cemetery in Itasca. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, January 18, 2012, at the funeral home.

Shirley was born March 24, 1956 in Itasca to F. L. and Ann Upchurch. She grew up in Itasca and attended school there and in Plains. On February 28, 2008, she married James McCreary. Over the years she worked at a variety of jobs. She loved to crochet and spend time with her grandkids. She was of the Baptist faith.

Preceding her in death were her grandparents and an aunt, Dorothy Hestand.

Survivors include her husband, James McCreary of Gholson; two daughters, Tarai McNeely and husband, Bryan, of Caldwell and Sharon Matthews and husband, Willie, of Whitney; parents, F. L. and Ann Upchurch of Hillsboro; three brothers, Wayne Upchurch and wife, Sandy, of Itasca, Leonard Upchurch and wife, Jocie, of Denver City, and Kenneth Upchurch of Whitney; sister, Cynthia Boiles of Cottonwood, MN; mother-in-law, Joyce Willis of Fort Worth; sister-in-law, Joyce Jackson and husband, Dwight, of Aquilla; four grandchildren, Ryan, Breanna, Lacy, and Katelynn; six nephews; three nieces; four great-nephews; nine great-nieces; and numerous aunts, uncles, and friends.
