Shirley Ray Taylor

Shirley Jean Ray Taylor, 61 of Whitney passed away at her residence on June 8, 2010. Shirley was born on February 20, 1949 in Austin; the daughter of the late Hubert and Jettie Thomason Ray. She married Guy B. Taylor on March 28, 1973 and he preceded her in death on January 29, 1999. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, native American culture, arts, crafts and was an avid Texas Longhorn fan. Shirley was of the Baptist faith. She was also preceded in death by her nephew, David McBrayer. Survivors include her children, Lisa Butler, Mindy Singleton, Michelle Taylor, Matthew Taylor and wife, Danielle Clark all of Whitney; brothers, Jimmy Ray and wife, Vivian of Aquilla, Allen Ray and wife, Claudia of Cleburne, Hubert Pete Ray and wife, Gail of Jacksonville, FL; sisters, Vickie Stockton and husband, Don, Debbie Clark, Linda Snyder and husband, Bill, Gertrude Clark and husband, Norman all of Whitney; 6 grandchildren, Kayla Lavender, Zachary Lavender, Brandon Butler, Brooke Singleton, Brett Singleton, Emily Taylor and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Marshall & Marshall Funeral Directors to help with funeral expenses.
