SMSgt. Lawrence Dale Crawford, USAF Ret., 67, of Hillsboro died Monday, November 27, 2006, at a Hillsboro hospital from complications of lung cancer Lawrence was born May 2, 1939 in Ridgway, Illinois the son of James Dale and Eileen Mills Crawford. In May 1956 he graduated from Ridgway High School and joined the U. S. Air Force. After serving his country for 23 years, he retired as a First Sergeant with the rank of Senior Master Sergeant. On November 28, 1975 he married Donna Bailey in Clovis, NM. After his retirement, they moved to a farm near Itasca and lived there until moving to Hillsboro in November 2003. He was a member of the AF & AM Order of Masons, United American Masonic Lodge #819 in Frankfurt, Germany, life member of the Air Force Sergeants Association, VFW of the United States, Disabled Veterans, and was an ordained Deacon of the Presbyterian Church, USA. Preceding him in death were his father; a brother, Gene Crawford; and a daughter, Kelly Dawn Whitten. Survivors include his devoted wife, Donna Crawford of Hillsboro; son, Tim Crawford and wife, Linda, of Garland; daughter, Kristen Crawford of Austin; mother, Eileen Crawford of Ridgway, Illinois; brother, Kenneth Crawford and wife, Patricia, of Teutopolis, Illinois; sister, Eva Crawford of Denver, Colorado; four grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, many cousins, and friends.
