Stacey Neal

Stacey "Katie" Neal, 51, of Gilmer passed away Sunday, January 7, 2018, at her residence. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, January 11, 2018, at Hickey Cemetery near Hillsboro with Rev. John Gradberg and Rev. David Gradberg officiating. Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 10, 2018, at Marshall & Marshall Funeral Directors in Hillsboro.

She was born December 30, 1966 in Galveston. At the age of four, she moved with her family to Hillsboro where she grew up. She spent her senior year at Carthage High School, graduating in 1985. Katie was first married to Don Gradberg and they had two sons together. After marriage, she attended Kilgore Junior College where she completed her training in Cosmetology. For many years, she lived in East Texas to be with her boys. In 2005, she married Henry Neal and they lived in Longview for several years before settling in Gilmer.

A lover of the holidays, Katie always enjoyed setting up her decorations. She was always the family photographer and videographer for all events. She loved her children unconditionally. She was of the Methodist faith.

Preceding her in death were her grandparents; J. N. and Estes Johnson.

Survivors include her husband, Henry Neal of Gilmer; father, Dr. Skip Johnson and wife, Diane, of Hillsboro; mother, Charlotte Allison and husband, Wayne, of Fredericksburg; two sons, Jeremy Gradberg and wife, Katherine, of Gary and Jason Gradberg and wife, Amber, of New Caney; three brothers, Chris Johnson and wife, Dawn, of Olympia, WA, Brent Taylor of Monroe, LA, and Doug Allison and wife, Brenda, of Arlington; two sisters, Shannon Taylor of Hillsboro and Paula Allison of New Braunfels; three grandchildren, Amy, Adam, and Aidan Gradberg; and many other extended family members.
