Steven Ray Mullins, 62, of Whitney, Texas, passed away Saturday, May 4, 2024, in Fort Worth, Texas. Funeral services will take place at 11:00 AM, Friday, May 10, 2024, at Marshall & Marshall Funeral Directors, Hillsboro, with Pastor Cory Mullins officiating. A burial will follow at Hillcrest Garden of Memory, Hillsboro. A visitation will take place from 6:00 to 8:00 PM, Thursday, May 9, 2024, at Marshall & Marshall, Hillsboro.
Steven was born May 8, 1961, in El Paso, Texas, to Hugh Anderson Mullins and Clara Helen (Ray) Williams. He graduated from Hillsboro High School, was baptized at Calvary Baptist Church, Hillsboro, and was a member of Our Savior Lutheran Church of Whitney. Steven served in the Texas National Guard from 1979 to 1985, achieving the rank of Sergeant E-5 Armor Cavalry Scout 19-D. He spent his career in various roles including truck driver, utility groundman, plant manager and finally telephone cable splicer from 1999 to 2021, when he became disabled.
He loved spending time with his grandchildren, playing golf, going to the lake with family and friends, fishing and fishing tournaments, swimming, going to fairs, playing dominoes and cards, barbeque, and family reunions and get togethers. Steven enjoyed target shooting and taught classes for concealed handguns and hunters’ education for many years. He also helped teach kids at the National Wildlife Turkey Federation events. Steven helped with Food for Families, blood drives and served on the Whitney Water Board. He was a great man, husband, father, brother, uncle, cousin, relative and friend.
Preceded in death by his parents, Hugh Anderson Mullins and Clara Helen Williams; his stepfather, D.L. Williams; his sister, Margaret Lynn Moser; his father in law, Walter Albert Banik; and his mother in law, Lodie Annie Banik; he is survived by his wife, Mary Ann Mullins; his son, Amos Ray Mullins; his grandchildren, Avery Mullins, Axel Mullins and Colton Mullins; his brothers, Dwight Anderson Mullins and Keith Mullins and wife, Lawanna; his sisters, Deborah Kay Pugh and husband, Roger; Teresa Dianne Porter, and Brenda Williams and husband, Mark; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
