Sue Worley Birdwell Manax, 67, passed away at her home in West with her husband, Dr. Bill Manax at her side. Sue was born on November 9, 1942 in Aquilla, Texas the fourth daughter of Braxton and Valda Barnes Worley. Upon graduation from Aquilla High School, Sue became a licensed surgical technician at Torbett-Hutchins Memorial Hospital in Marlin, Texas and was clinic nurse for the late Dr. Howard Smith. She married Kenneth Birdwell in Hillsboro, Texas on February 27, 1965. She soon lost her husband to a helicopter crash during the Viet Nam War. She then attended Hillsboro Junior College and McLennan Community College where she earned an associate arts degree in nursing. She then worked for many years at the Grant-Buie Hospital in Hillsboro and then at the West Community Hospital where she met her wonderful husband, Dr. Bill Manax, and they were married in Las Vegas, Nevada in 1995. They spent the next 15 years traveling all over the world attending medical conventions and enjoying many interesting and exciting places. She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Birdwell; parents; two sisters, Addie Burleson of Cleburne and Karen Worley of Arlington, Texas; one brother-in-law, Roy Burleson of Cleburne, Texas. Sue is survived by her husband Dr. Bill Manax of West; one son, Jimmy Markum of Riesel, Texas; three daughters and two son-in-laws, Kenda and Clark Dressen of Midland, Michigan, Julie Birdwell Manax of Dallas and Ruth and Jeff Miller of Phoenix, Arizona; four grandchildren, Ronnie Markum of Waco, Trace and Hannah Dressen of Midland, Michigan and Sarah Miller of Phoenix, Arizona; four sisters and brother -in-laws, Anna and William Polster of Riesel, Tommacine and Herbert Hill of Whitney, Peggy and Dennis Frazier of Burleson and Judy Chick of Fredricburg, Virginia; one brother, Benny Worley and wife Karen of Aquilla and a large number of nieces and nephews. The family wishes to thank Bridgeway Hospice and the Visiting Angels for the compassionate care Sue received.
