Sue Rogers, 79 of Whitney passed away on April 7, 2010 at her residence. Sue was born on September 22, 1930 in Hill County; the daughter of the late James Oscar and Hattie Shelton Sims. Known as Granny Sue, she always had something cooked on the stove with plenty of food for everyone. An active volunteer in the community she also enjoyed children and being involved with their lives. Sue looked forward to the Thursday nights out with the girls as well as being a avid Texas Rangers and Dallas Cowboy fan. She was of the Methodist faith and a member of Rebecca Lodge. She and her husband, John Franklin Rogers were the love of each others heart. John was a veteran of World War II, serving in the Pacific campaign receiving two bronze starts and the purple heart. Also preceding her in death were her husband, John on Dec. 17, 2003; five brothers, Whalen, Jewel, Claudine, Macon and J.O. Sims; four sisters, Mary Healey, Vera Turner, Dorothy Turner and Mae Brazil. Survivors include her children, Becky Rogers and Larry Rogers both of Whitney; grandchildren, Lacey Jay Rogers, Shelbee Nocole Landon, Jaron Wright and Justin Rogers.
