Sue Ann Yarbro, a resident of Angleton, Texas, and former resident of Woodbury, Texas, went to be with God on August 5, 2023. She was surrounded by family when, with her last breath, she reached out and took Jesus by the hand.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Marshall & Marshall Funeral Home in Hillsboro, Texas, on September 9, 2023, at 10 a.m. followed by interment of ashes at the Old Woodbury Cemetery in Woodbury, Texas.
Sue, the daughter of Arlan and Verda Reynolds, was born March 6, 1935, in Russell, Iowa, and was a graduate of Russell High School. After graduation, Sue worked for the Russell Newspaper and later for an insurance company in Des Moines, Iowa. It was at this time that she met the love of her life, Bob Yarbro, a handsome water well driller from Texas, who was sent by Layne Texas Water Well Co. to drill the city well for her hometown of Russell. It was love at first sight, well, maybe or maybe not (it depends on who was telling the story). They were married in a Methodist church in Des Moines, Iowa, on November 4, 1956. Together they raised a family while moving frequently due to Bob’s work. Keeping their family together was what mattered most to them and through it all Sue inspired her children to pursue their education and to set their goals high. After raising the children and settling in Alvin, Texas, Sue became involved in politics and was honored as the Republican Woman of the Year. Her later years were dedicated to extensive, detailed and documented research in genealogy. Bob and Sue remained a loving and devoted couple until his death in 2021 and even now, for eternity.
Sue was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Bob Yarbro; her parents, Arlan and Verda Reynolds; brother, Gary Reynolds; daughter, Tracy Lynn Yarbro; son, Michael Glen Yarbro; and grandson, Mac Griffith.
She is survived by her daughter, Kimberly Yarbro Ahmed and husband, Tanveer, of Sugar Land, Texas; son, Scott Yarbro and wife, Chirelle, of Casper, Wyoming; daughter, Kelly Yarbro Griffith and husband, David, of Angleton, Texas; grandchildren, Faith Yarbro, Katrina Yarbro, Mariah Bhatti, Robert Yarbro and wife, Kayzanne, Greg Yarbro, Drew Griffith and wife, Kelsey, Layla Villegas, and Aiman Bhatti; two great-grandchildren, Ethan Yarbro and Evy Horrell; sister, Janice Blubaugh; brother, Jim Reynolds and wife, Roberta; and many beloved nieces and nephews.
Sue will always be remembered for her beautiful smile, her laugh and for those sparkling bright blue eyes; her love of politics and genealogy and all things Irish but more than anything, how much she loved her husband, children, grandchildren, and family.
Our family would like to express deepest gratitude to the entire staff at Country Village Care in Angleton, Texas, for the love and dignity of life that was abundantly shared with Sue.
Keeping with Sue’s wishes, in lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in her memory to Texas Children’s Hospital, The Ronald McDonald House, St. Jude’s Hospital or The Woodbury Community Cemetery.
