Biography

Susan Broussard Thompson, 55, of Whitney, passed away on Sunday, December 29, 2013, at a local hospital. Services will be held at 2:00 PM, Thursday, January 2, 2014, at King Memorial United Methodist Church in Whitney with Rev. Mike Kerzee officiating. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Garden of Memory near Hillsboro. Visitation will be from 6-8 PM, Wednesday, January 1, 2014 at Marshall and Marshall Funeral Directors in Whitney.

Susan was born on August 2, 1958, in Morgan City, Louisiana, to Marvin and Lydia (Giroir) Broussard. She attended school in Patterson, Louisiana until the 11th grade and graduated from Whitney High School in 1976. She received an Associates Degree in Computer Science from Hill College in the mid-1990's and would eventually return to work there as a financial secretary for almost fifteen years as well as working several years for Brown and Root and Mangum in Whitney as office manager.

An avid reader, she also had a very keen sense of humor and was a very strong-willed person. She enjoyed rodeos and taking family trips to the coast. She loved kids and animals.

She loved her daughter Skyla more than anything.

She was preceded in death by her father, Marvin Broussard on January 7, 2000, and her brother Blane Broussard on May 2, 1986.

She is survived by her daughter, Sklya Broussard Elmore and husband, Shawn, of Whitney; mother, Lydia Broussard of Whitney; sisters, Cynthia Hutson and husband, Duane of Kopperl and Pamela Broussard Ferguson and husband, Dickie Lynn of Waco; nieces, Audrey Hutson of Las Colinas and Elaina Hutson of Witchita Falls, nephews, Brad Hutson and wife, Ashley of Rio Vista, Nathan Ferguson of Waco; 1 great-niece, Carmen Hutson of Rio Vista; great-newphews, Nathan Hutson and Dalton Hutson of Rio Vista; several aunts, uncles and cousins in Louisiana.
